2010 Basketball Camp Scholarships

2010 Scholarship winners announced

• Hailey Poole, 12, of Hawley Middle School in Granville County was awarded the Kellie Harper Basketball Camp Scholarship and
• Jeffrey Yokley, 11, of North Garner Middle School in Wake County was awarded the Roy Williams’ Basketball Camp Scholarship from Wake Electric.
  
• Hailey is the daughter of Miriam and Rickey Poole and Jeffrey is the son of David and Nancy Yokley.

Winners were selected by a panel of judges who reviewed an application that included an essay about the students’ reason for wanting to participate in the camp. Hailey and Jeffrey were selected based on the excellence of their applications and accompanying essays. The Kellie Harper Basketball Camp will be held June 20 -23 at N.C. State University and the Roy Williams’ Basketball Camp will be held June 19-23 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Both camps will work closely with each camper to help develop fundamental skills. Individual and team competition will provide opportunities to challenge young athletes to perform and to excel, both on and off the court.

The Touchstone Energy Sports Camps program provides a unique educational and athletic opportunity for outstanding students across our state and is yet another way Wake Electric demonstrates its commitment to the communities it serves in Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Vance and Wake counties.

Each summer, Wake Electric sends one student to each basketball camp. Applications for the 2011 camp will be available on-line in early January 2011.
