2012 Classroom Technology Awards for teachers
Classroom Technology Awards applications are now being accepted.
NOTE: The Classroom Technology Awards grant programs is NOT the same as the Bright Ideas grant program. They are 2 separate and distinct programs. On-line applications for the Bright Ideas grants is available at www.ncbrightideas.com.
- Wake Electric seeks Classroom Technology Awards grant applicants from North Carolina public school teachers serving 1) grades K-12
and 2) area community colleges.
- Grants of up to $3,000 will
be awarded in any discipline for specific technology such as computers, digital
cameras, scanners, and software. The technology must benefit the students
in the classroom. Wake Electric will distribute up to $20,000 in Classroom Technology Awards funds.
- Public school and community college teachers in Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Vance and
Wake counties are eligible to apply.
- Winners will be notified by mid-October 2012 and money will be awarded in November 2012
How to apply
- When applying for the grant, be sure to be creative in your explanation and description of why you need this equipment.
- Each year, many teachers request money for the same types of technology - you want to make sure that your grant request STANDS OUT from similar requests.
- Show original, outside-the-box ideas in how you will utilize this equipment in your classroom and why your students will benefit from the technology you are seeking money for.

- If you have received a CTA grant in the past, in order to be eligible to receive a 2012 grant, you must provide a one page typed
summary of the project outlining how the project proved successful and/or benefited your students. Photos and samples of projects are welcomed
and encouraged.
