Wake Electric Kicks Off the Fridge and Freezer Farewell Program

Get $50 for your old fridge!

Did you know that by recycling your old refrigerator or freezer, you could save more than $200 per year on your energy bill? Did you also know that old refrigerators contain more than 120 lbs of recyclable steel?

Wake Electric is proud to announce its partnership with Appliance Recycling Centers of America, Inc. to bring you an exciting new program. Because the co-op cares about the environment and wants to help you save on your electric bill, we?ll give you $50 to let us properly recycle your old, working secondary refrigerator or freezer. We?ll even pick it up, free of charge, without you having to lift a finger. Each fridge or freezer appliance that is properly recycled through the program will prevent it from entering a landfill, helping us all clean up the environment. Here are the details:

  • You must be a residential electric customer with a valid account number to participate.

  • Refrigerators and freezers turned in for recycling must be secondary units in working condition (cooling)

  • The fridge or freezer must be 10-30 cubic feet.

  • The unit must be owned by you and picked up from the residential address listed on the billing account.

Please note the $50 rebate will be mailed to you in the form of a check within 4-6 weeks after collection.

Limit of two appliances per household per year. Some restrictions apply.

We appreciate your help in protecting the environment and conserving energy!
