Wake Electric announces Operation RoundUp grant winners

4 times a year, Wake Electric awards grants to deserving non-profit organizations in its service territory. Funded through Operation RoundUp, grants are administered for projects and proposals that:

- serve a broad range of individuals
- use funds for educational, charitable or economic development purposes.

2nd quarter 2010 grant winners are:

1. $1,000 - Care & Share of Franklin County, Louisburg, NC for supplies
2. $1,000 - Changing a Generation Ministry, Durham, NC for school supplies
3. $1,000 - Durham Rescue Mission, Durham, NC for back to school supplies
4. $1,000 - Granville County Historical Society Museum, Oxford, NC for exhibits
5. $1,000 - Harbor, Inc., Smithfield, NC - provide car seats for children staying at Shelter
6. $1,225 - Meals on Wheels of Wake County, Raleigh, NC for 2 weeks of lunches
7. $1,500 - Wake Forest Police Department, Wake Forest, NC for DARE program

The funds for Operation RoundUp grants come from voluntary contributions from WEMC members and Wake Electric employees.
Wake Electric is a non-profit electric utility serving 34,500 members in parts of Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Vance and Wake counties.
